Susan Burton, author of Becoming Ms. Burton: From Prison to Recovery to Leading the Fight for Incarcerated Women will be reading from her book and talking about A New Way of Life, a reentry project established in 1998 by Ms. Burton to help women in in Los Angeles rebuild their lives after incarceration.
Ms. Burton cycled in and out of prison for over fifteen years.Once released and clean, she has dedicated her life to support women facing similar struggles. Becoming Ms. Burton points the way to the kind of structural and policy changes that will offer formerly incarcerated people the possibility of a life of meaning and dignity.
The Prison Story Project is pleased to support the University of Arkansas in helping to bring Ms. Burton to Fayetteville and we are pleased that she will be speaking with incarcerated women that our project serves in a local correction center.
She will do a public reading at the Fayetteville Public Library on April 17, 2023 from 6:45-7:15pm.
