The Prison Story Project will return to Randall L. Williams Correction Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on November 16, 2015 to present a staged reading of stories gathered from a creative writing intensive held with inmates there one year ago this month. This will be the first time the men have had an opportunity to hear their stories re-told by actors making the trip from Fayetteville to present the staged reading of their work.
We are extremely grateful to Mid-America Arts Alliance for providing funding, not only to make the staged reading possible, but also to follow the staged reading with a 2 day creative writing/storytelling intensive for selected inmates at Randall L. Williams so that the Prison Story Project may continue to weave the stories of incarcerated men with the stories of incarcerated women.
The staged reading that we will present in Pine Bluff was shared with women incarcerated at the Northwest Arkansas Community Correction Center in Fayetteville on September 21, 2015.
Our hope is that in listening to each other’s stories we might, in some small way, help break the cycle of abuse that often leads men – and the women in their lives – to prison.
